Happy Father's Day!

My father is an avid tennis player and loves to garden. So I came up with an idea to 'kill two birds with one stone'...only it backfired! I went out and got all sorts of wonderful colourful annuals and put an arrangement together hoping to have some trailing flowers over the 'ice bucket'. The problem was that at this time of the season, the plants were either compact, short and about to bud or in full bloom but thin and spindly! So I dismantled the arrangement, what a mess! I went to a greenhouse on 32nd and 200th in Langley and purchased a fresh arrangement. Having spent money already on a gift and plants, the budget was tight so instead of buying several different bouquets, I found the arrangement to be a better buy. Once, I assembled the arrangement I felt more flowers were necessary since I was doing both sides of the racket. This I procured from my garden and added the tennis ball and bird as garnish. Eh voila!

ps...no grades please!
pss...thanks for a great time on Thursday gals!

Came across this website, and thought it was neat! I like the idea that you can pick your own flowers as well.

This picture was taken along the ocean path in Tsawwassen a couple of weeks ago. Can anyone tell me the name of this shrub?
